MOPA-LASER-RASTERIZER

Upload an image file, and a Lightburn Material Library file with color settings for your MOPA Fiber Laser

Name your material settings in your lighburn material settings file with description matching the color names here, and material name containing: stainless - steel

This application will scan your raster image, find the closest Lightburn Layer Color to the pixels color, then draw a square vector to represent that pixel in the appropriate color settings later

The result is what call a rasterized vector

or perhaps a vectorized raster?

You can control the size of each "pixel" with the pixel_square_mm form field

You can control how many pixels Wide or how many pixels Tall, but only one option at a time. For the other dimension option , you must put 0. The original aspect ratio will ALWAYS be respected

You can check the box for vectorize in order to instead make vectors of all touching pixels of identical colors. When vectorize is checked, pixel_square_mm is used as a scaling factor and works with positive and negative amounts

Some of the files this application creates can be extremely large (100MB is a real posibilitiy depending on how large of a field of view your laser has and how dense your designs are, and whether or not you use the vectorize feature (vectorize reduces the size substantially)

When loading thes in lightburn, most people think lighburn has crashed

The two slowest parts in the process are when clicking "frame" and when clicking "Run"

It really really really helps to disable ALL cut optimzation options before clicking preview, frame or Run/Send

With a 100mb project file, it is normal for it to take 15 to 35 minutes to pass each of the two stages mentioned above. Durring this time lighburn will be non responsive , but generally if you just let it sit for maybe 15 or in extreme cases 30 minutes, it almost always is succesful

in addition to lightburn being slow in some parts of processing these files due to their size, they also tend to take a really long time on the laser because you are in some cases drawing 1/8 of a mm squares in order to color fill an area , depending on the speicifc s these jobs can take several hours

Please be patient, it is slow

All colors of lightburn layers included by default, pick the colors you want toggle on / off , when a color is toggled off it means the lightburn color layer will not be used for the engraving, and color will not be considered when finding the closest lightburn layer color, so excluding a only exludes the color itself the drawing, the next closest color that is not exlcluded will be used instead, but the color's settings will still be loaded into lightburn if present in your material library file.
