Cropping Rasterizer Artwork Before Processing
Rasterizer can create a new cropped source image in your browser before upload. When a crop is active, the cropped pixels, aspect ratio, transparency, quantized preview, SVG, and LightBurn project all follow that cropped source rather than the original file.
Rectangle, square, oval, and circle crops
Choose a Crop shape and drag over the artwork. Drag inside the selection to move it, or drag a corner handle to resize it. Square and Circle keep equal dimensions; Rectangle and Oval can use different width and height.
A valid selection applies automatically when the job is submitted. Crop preview applies it immediately so you can inspect the cropped source before submitting. Reset crop returns to the original uploaded artwork.
Crop transparency
Crop transparency finds the smallest rectangular pixel bounds containing nontransparent artwork and creates a cropped PNG in the browser. Transparent pixels outside the artwork and transparent holes inside it remain transparent, and Rasterizer creates no geometry for those regions.
Use this for logos, illustrations, or cutouts on a transparent canvas. It does not remove a white or checkerboard-looking background that has already been flattened into opaque pixels.
Preview behavior
The quantized browser preview shows transparent regions over a checkerboard so they are not mistaken for Black or another palette color. The preview also shows millimeter rulers derived from the requested processing dimensions and Physical Pixel Size.
The rulers communicate the calculated output dimensions, but a browser cannot guarantee that one on-screen millimeter equals one physical millimeter on every monitor. Browser zoom, operating-system scaling, pixel density, and display calibration affect the apparent size.
Output dimensions
Cropping changes the source aspect ratio. As with an uncropped job, provide either processing width or processing height and leave the other at 0; Rasterizer calculates the missing dimension from the cropped aspect ratio. Physical Pixel Size then converts those processed pixels into the initial millimeter dimensions of the SVG and LightBurn project.
Privacy and file handling
The crop operation and cropped preview are produced locally in the browser. Rasterizer uploads the resulting cropped file only when you submit the job. The original image is not additionally uploaded as part of that cropped submission.
